Sean Curran | Contemporary Masterclass

Seán Curran’s Contemporary Dance Technique class nurtures students in fundamental aspects of their dance training. His multidisciplinary approach to contemporary technique is informed by early Irish step dance training, ballet, Cunningham and Limon techniques, and body percussion forms. Classes focus on tools to support alignment, rhythm, and flow while pushing students to expand and integrate their physical, cognitive and emotional capabilities. Curran teaches with humor and positivity, and participants are encouraged to acknowledge their own experiences moving through the world. As dancers, we are fortunate to train in large groups, and classes incorporate the importance of listening, internalizing, and applying corrections given to others throughout the class to their own bodies. Curran’s contemporary dance technique classes provide a respectful and supportive space for students to take the physical and intellectual risks that will enable them to reach the next level in their technical and artistic development.
